Okazu is a side dish or condiment traditionally eaten as an accompaniment to rice in Japan. This savory okazu from Abokichi draws inspiration from Japanese taberu rayu – a.k.a. chili oil – while incorporating miso for a vegetarian source of umami. The resulting chili oil is a versatile sauce which pairs excellently with chicken, burgers, eggs, stir-fry, salad dressing, and more.
