On a visit to Barcelona, Formaggio Kitchen owners Valerie and Ihsan, baught this bright yellow bag of Carquinyolis Sant Quinti de Medion caught their eye in a local food shop. They bought a bag to munch while wandering the streets of the city. One taste and they were hooked. These irresistible cookies are now a staple on our shelves all year round.

The Argemí-Salat family have been making these marvelous carquinyolis, the Spanish equivalent of Italian cantuccini, since 1991 in Sant Quinti de Mediona. They tend to be a bit light, almost meringue-like. Crunchy, studded with almonds and slightly misshapen, they have a delicate, almond flavor and streaks of caramelized sugar. Traditionally served after dinner or as a snack with Cava, Champagne, sweet Moscatel wine or even foie gras, we think they are also perfect with tea, fresh, young goat cheeses, or eaten straight out of the bag while you walk down the street!

    Perfect little cookies

I found these in a little bistro in Barcellona and simply fell in love with theses little crunchy cookies. They are the best biscoty like cookies that I have ever tasted.

    Delicious

We just got these and they are such a delicious sweet nibble without being overly sweet. I’ve described them as being like a cross between a meringue and a biscotti. Already ordered another bag because they are going fast in my home!
